Learn how to really play croquet at class

Somewhere in the back of the garage, you must have a dusty croquet set with rusty wickets.
Well, dust off those mallets and balls, because croquet is making another comeback.
The olde timey genteel sport was played in England around the turn of the century ... the turn of the 18th to 19th centuries, that is.
So if you want to know more than how to "send someone" (that's actually called a "croquet"), sign up for one of Mill Creek's upcoming croquet lessons at Mill Creek Sports Park.
The classes, for those 18 and older, are conducted by a member of the U.S. Croquet Association, and include instruction on grips, stances and swings, as well as terminology. A bisque, for instance, is not a cream soup.
The next session is from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday. Other two-hour classes are scheduled for 10 a.m. June 18 and 25, and 4 p.m. July 2, 9 and 16.
Each session costs $12 for Mill Creek residents and $14 for nonresidents. Register online at, call 425-745-1891, or stop in at Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main St.
The Mill Creek Sports Park is at 13903 North Creek Drive, Mill Creek.
