SPOKANE — Talk about pleasing the boss.
Police investigating a theft ring in Spokane recovered Chief Frank Straub’s bicycle after it was stolen from his garage last month.
The Spokesman-Review reported that the officers were at the West Wynn Motel in Spokane on May 27 when they saw 27-year-old Andrew J. Koffel and another man walking away with four bikes.
One of the bikes had a decal from an Indiana bike shop, and officers quickly recognized it as Straub’s ride. Straub recently lived in Indianapolis.
The chief says the thieves took his seat and pedals, but he got his bike back.
Motel manager Traci Hilliard says police found at least 20 bicycles in a room there. Koffel faces a charge of third-degree possession of stolen property.
