Scouting Report
After a promising victory two weeks ago over the Phoenix Mercury, the Storm have dropped two straight to fall to 1-3 on the season.
Seattle's biggest problem in those two losses has been its lack of offense, scoring 58 against Tulsa at home and 59 on the road loss against Atlanta.
Tina Thompson and Temeka Johnson, each with 11 points were the only Storm players scoring in double figures Friday in Atlanta, and the team shot just 33.9 percent from the field. Thompson shot just 3-for-11 in the game.
Storm veterans Camille Little and Tanisha Wright were expected to play an enhanced role offensively with Bird and Jackson out with Sue Bird and Lauren Jackson out for the 2013 season. However, Little has averaged just 10.3 points per game and Wright 11.3 through four games.
Finding consistent offense was expected to be a struggle, but the production has to improve if the Storm is to make any sort of playoff run.
Defensively, the Storm have kept themselves in every game, with the exception of the season opener in Los Angeles. They face a tough challenge today from the Sun's Tina Charles. who is averaging 19.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game and at 6-foot-4 is a tough defensive assignement for the smaller Storm. Thompson, Little and Nakia Sanford will likely split time guarding Charles in an effort to slow down the league's reigning MVP.
