WOODINVILLE — A bicyclist died Saturday morning after colliding with an oncoming car just east of Highway 522.
The incident happened about 10:45 a.m. in the 6500 block of 240th Street SE, south of Maltby in unincorporated Snohomish County. The man, believed to be in his 60s, was trying to pass other cyclists when he struck an oncoming car, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Rob Palmer said.
The cyclist died at the scene.
Police believe the man is from Kent. The Snohomish County medical examiner on Saturday had not released his name.
Sheriff’s collision detectives continue to investigate the accident. There is no indication that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, Palmer said. Police do not anticipate that the driver will be charged with a crime in connection with the accident.
Palmer reminded people that warmer weather means an increase in pedestrians, motorcyclists and bicyclists on the roadways. He asked everyone to be attentive and obey traffic laws.
