Front Porch: Conference for female veterans

A Women Veteran Summit is planned from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 29 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center, 1500 Broadway, Tacoma. The conference will provide female veterans with information about opportunities and challenges they face, and information on benefits and services they might be entitled to. The conference will feature workshops on leadership, wellness, mental health, education, small business issues and VA benefits. The event will include a "Fatigues to Fabulous" runway show.

The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission is seeking paintings, prints, drawings, miniatures, calligraphy, photographs, three-dimensional and artisan works for its 35th Annual Juried Art Show.
More than $4,000 in prize money is available. Arts of the Terrace is to be held Sept. 28 through Oct. 6. The deadline for entries is Aug. 30. To enter or to view the prospectus online, go to www.cityofmlt.com and on the home page, under "most requested services," click on "Arts of the Terrace".
