State Fire Marshal Charles Duffy is reminding Washingtonians that the purchase of fireworks over the internet is illegal. In Washington state, fireworks may only be bought from a licensed retail fireworks stand during the legal sales period. Orders for fireworks cannot be placed over the internet or posted on websites such as craigslist.
Residents should know what the fireworks laws are for their area.
In addition, Duffy reminded everyone of the three B’s of fireworks safety:
Be prepared: Have water nearby and put pets indoors;
Be safe: Only adults should light fireworks;
Be responsible: Clean up fireworks debris.
