A food drive to benefit Snohomish County food banks is planned from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Grocery Outlet at 9620 B State Ave., Marysville. The Toys for Tots Foundation is running the drive. Food can be dropped off -- it doesn't have to be purchased at the Grocery Outlet -- or donations made to the Snohomish County Food Banks. Diapers also are needed.

Fine art jewelry class available
Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering a Precious Metal Clay workshop for those who are serious about learning fine art jewelry making. The two-day workshop includes learning various techniques and firing. Tools included. Cost is $95 registration fee plus a supply fee ranging between $90 and $100, depending on project chosen. Stanwood: Tax rate to increase
The city of Stanwood will see a sales and use tax rate increase of 0.2 percent on July 1. The tax will be used for transportation services, and increase the Stanwood tax rate to 8.8 percent.

Port Susan market to open
The Port Susan Farmers Market is starting its second season at 3 p.m. Friday The market is at the corner of Highway 532 and 88th Street in the Viking Village and will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. each Friday this summer through Oct. 18.
Market vendors will sell locally grown produce, flowers and plants as well as breads, cheeses, homemade jams, soaps and other locally made and produced items.
If you are a singer or musician, the Farmers Market is looking for performers to play throughout the summer. Interested performers can take hour-long time slots as well as set out a tip jar and sell their music. The market will provide an overhead canopy and outlets to perform, and soloists, duets or trios can be accommodated accordingly. Performers will be offered a small stipend per one-hour time slot.
