Lt. Gregg Hastings said the van driven by Trevor Heuber, 29, of Marysville, was northbound Tuesday with three adult passengers. Two passengers were sitting unbelted on custom-fitted bench seats. Police said the driver lost control on wet pavement and the van traveled down a gravel embankment in the Siskiyou Pass area. The two unbelted passengers were ejected.
Hastings said 38-year-old David Staley of Portland was critically injured and flown to Rogue Regional Medical Center. The driver, as well as a 30-year-old Portland woman and a 27-year-old Portland man, suffered less serious injuries.
Police say all four were traveling to Portland from a northern California crafts fair.
