Do you have extra seeds hanging around? In the dead of winter, with glossy magazines staring at you, it’s easy to get a little carried away. If you ordered more than you could possibly hope to plant — not to mention grow and maintain — then think about spreading the wealth a little. Hyperlocavore, a Web site devoted to getting people gardening and forming a community of gardeners, has a cool idea to get new gardeners started. (Go check out the site. It’s really nifty.)
Basically, you look through your seed stash, find what you aren’t going to use, and pass it along to a new gardener. I like it. You get to clean out your drawers, keep seeds from going to waste and get a new person hooked on growing their own food. Learn about the Let’s Get Growing Seed Share by going here.
