Large ash eruption at Alaskan volcano
Authorities at the Alaska Volcano Observatory say an ash plume up to 28,000 feet was reported Tuesday to the west of Pavlof Volcano.
KTUU-TV reported some airline disruptions because of the activity. PenAir had to cancel one flight, and change the flight plans of others. One plane couldn't refuel Tuesday at Cold Bay.
Alaska Airlines says it hasn't had any direct effects from the volcano.
The observatory also says it received a report of trace ash in King Cove, about 30 miles southwest of the volcano.
The 8,262-foot volcano located about 625 miles southwest of Anchorage has been intermittently spewing ash since May.
