Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1963)
Robert Keck, managing director of the Bon Marche Everett, announced today the acquisition of approximately 33,000 square feet of downtown space for construction of a major parking facility. The land was immediately across Wetmore Avenue along California Street to Rockefeller Avenue. Businesses on the land included Everett Book and Stationery and Everett Parlor Furniture.

Marv Theodorson and Joe LeGault, from Everett, who were fishing from the same boat, each landed a king salmon at Hope Island. The former's catch weighed 38½ pounds and the latter's was a 25-pounder.

25 years ago (1988)
Yesterday was a happy milestone for Flossie Demperwolf, who celebrated her 100th birthday with her family at Virginia Manor. The occasion was arranged by her children Kenneth Demperwolf, Alice Karkos, Beth Sawyer and Zuret Van Royen.

Byron Wingett, a retired Boeing public relations photographer, took a group photo of pilots, engineers and technicians just before the test flight yesterday of the second Boeing 747-400 at Paine Field. The plane, encased in a protective green plastic skin, flew north to Bellingham, east to the Cascades and west over the Olympic Peninsula and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
