SNOHOMISH -- The adage that dogs are a man's best friend proved apt for a Snohomish man on Friday morning.
His dog woke him up around 2:30 a.m. to alert him that the house was full of smoke, Snohomish Fire District officials said.
The homeowner was able to escape unharmed and firefighters believe the dog got out as well.
The 3,600-sqare-foot home in the 17700 block of W. Flowing Lake Road was destroyed.
Twenty firefighters from Snohomish, Lake Stevens and Monroe helped put out the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal's Office.
