TACOMA — The Pierce County sheriff’s office believes a man who crashed a stolen truck faked being paralyzed so he could escape.
Medics took 30-year-old Justin Wetrich to Tacoma General Hospital following the May 28 crash in Parkland.
The News Tribune reported doctors believed he was paralyzed and put him in the intensive care unit. But when deputies arrived to check on him seven hours later, the supposedly immobile suspect had taken off.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said it’s either a miracle or he was faking.
There’s a warrant out for Wetrich’s arrest on charges of vehicle theft and eluding police.
