TACOMA — A registered nurse has been awarded $173,000 after winning a sexual harassment lawsuit against Western State Hospital.
The News Tribune reported that nurse Christopher Boyd accused one of his supervisors at the mental hospital of inappropriate sexual conduct between 2007 and 2009.
Boyd said he endured retaliation after he complained about the conduct, including a series of retaliatory investigations against him that led to reassignment, a reprimand and a two-week suspension, the lawsuit contended.
Attorneys for the hospital denied retaliations and contended that Boyd filed complaints only after his supervisors cited him for poor performance.
Boyd’s attorneys noted the history of similar complaints at the hospital over the past decade. Three of those suits led to combined judgments against the state that approached $700,000.
