Two people were in the plane, a 69-year-old student pilot from Seattle and an 82-year-old flight instructor from Mountlake Terrace. The plane left Paine Field about 3 p.m. and overshot the runway in Monroe, Willis said. The plane went into the long grass and flipped over.
The Seattle man was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The Mountlake Terrace man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration was notified. Monroe police were investigating.
