ARLINGTON -- Military veterans can get free help finding civilian jobs Friday and Saturday during the Arlington Fly-In at the Arlington Municipal Airport.
The federal Office of Reserve Affairs mobile "job store" is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The jobs program, called Hero 2 Hired, initially was designed to help Army National Guard and Army Reserve personnel returning from overseas deployments.
"We have been informed that the event here is open to all military personnel, not just those in the Reserve or National Guard," said city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield.
The mobile jobs program offers people the chance to do a comprehensive online job search, write a resume and figure out how their military skills translate to civilian job qualifications. The Hero 2 Hired website, h2h.jobs, is designed to connect military veterans with employers committed to hiring veterans, said Ronald Young, program director, in a statement.
"We're proud to provide this empowering tool absolutely free for Guard and Reserve members, spouses, veterans and employers," Young said.
The Arlington Fly-In, www.arlingtonflyin.org, runs Thursday through Saturday at the west entrance to the airport, 4700 188th St. NE.
