The Mariners announced several pitching moves, including a trip to Everett for Erasmo Ramirez, who started Thursday’s loss to Boston.
Additionally, Blake Beavan optioned to Tacoma where he’ll go back to starting, and Bobby LaFromboise and Hector Noesi were recalled from Tacoma. Those two will provide help for a bullpen that has been heavily used over the past few days.
And if you’re wondering why Everett for Ramirez, this is likely because the Mariners want to get him work over the All Star break, and with the AquaSox home next week, that’s easier to do with them than another farm team. Tacoma has an All Star break coming up as well, then goes on the road. If the Mariners were thinking of sending Ramirez to the minors for a longer stint and not just to get him a start over the break, they’d almost certainly send him to a higher level of ball than Everett, so expect to see him back in the Mariners rotation after the break.
