Classes teach firearms safety

The Central Whidbey Sportsman's Association is offering free safety training classes this summer.
The Women's Firearm Safety class begins at 9 a.m. July 27 at the club at 397 Safari Lane, Coupeville.
The class, which is taught by retired law enforcement officers, covers handling a loaded firearm and how to make it safe. The session lasts about four hours and includes range time to practice new skills.
Bring your own firearms or guns will be provided by the club. It's also recommended that you bring a lunch or snacks.
No registration in needed for this class. Call Bob Clark at 360-929-2167 for more information.
The association also offers four sessions for hunter education: July 31 to Aug. 3, Aug. 28 to 31, Sept. 4 to 7, and Sept. 18 to 21.
The sessions are held at the Central Whidbey Sportsman's Association clubhouse and at the range.
