It’s been known for a while now that Sounders forward Fredy Montero, who has spent this season on loan with Colombian club Millonarios, was likely headed to Portugal, and now the move is official, with the Sounders announcing that Montero has been loaned to Sportin Lisbon, a deal that includes an option to buy Montero on a permanent transfer.
Montero, 25, is the Sounders’ career leader in goals and assists having scored 47 goals in league play and 60 in all competition. He was the 2009 MLS Newcomer of the year and a three-time MLS All Star.
