50 years ago (1963)
An in-service firefighting training program was created by the city of Everett and Paine Field. Involved were Everett Fire Chief William Kidder, Commissioner of Safety C. Arvid Johnson, Col. Jack Williams, Maj. Richard Sinel and Paine Field Fire Chief Augie Mattson. The program provided for the exchange of men to give city firemen training an experience in aircraft firefighting and to give Air Force firemen training in structural firefighting.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Fenton were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house this Sunday are their home, 3217 Grand Ave. Their daughter Janet Lee, and their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Donald M. Fenton, were planning the celebration. Friends and relatives were invited to call.
25 years ago (1988)
Sean McNamara of Everett recently received a bachelor’s degree in physics from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California.
Serving in South Korea (maybe with a chance to watch an Olympic event or two) was Mariner High grad John C. Wolfe, an Air force staff sergeant who was a microcomputer officer manger and a recent graduate of noncommissioned officer leadership school.
