EVERETT — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office has completed an internal review of the overdose death of an inmate in February at the county jail.
“All staff followed proper protocol and their actions were within policy,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said Tuesday.
Leon Benjamin Moore, 41, of Snohomish, was booked into the jail Feb. 26. He had been arrested by Everett police on a warrant for driving under the influence.
Moore was found dead from a methamphetamine overdose in the jail about 10:30 a.m. Feb. 28. It is unclear when he ingested the drugs.
The incident is not expected to be reviewed by prosecutors because there was no finding of “a legal, procedural or policy violation,” Ireton said.
Federal experts are expected to visit the jail in the coming weeks to review operations. At least seven inmates have died there in recent years.
