USS Nimitz: The deployment so far (gallery)

The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz left its home port at Naval Station Everett in March, carrying with it 5,000 sailors.

They are deployed to a 2.5 million-square-mile area that includes the Red and Arabian seas, the Arabian Gulf, the gulfs of Aden and Oman and part of the Indian Ocean.

The Everett-based aircraft carrier made a visit to South Korea in June and now, four months into deployment, the crew is carrying out operations in the North Arabian Sea.
