SHORECREST — Everett relief pitcher Aaron Hatch loaded the bases in the top of the eighth inning and the Northwest Honkers scored the go-ahead run after a batter was hit by a pitch in a 4-3 victory over the Merchants on Tuesday night.
Shortstop Max Whitt powered the Merchants offense, hitting a solo home run in the first inning to give Everett the early lead in a Pacific International League game played at Shorecrest high school. Whitt added a single in the third.
The Merchants head to Canada next to play a doubleheader against the Kamloops Sundevils. Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 4:05 p.m. at a site to be determined.
