Restaurant employee assaulted, robbed in Edmonds

Edmonds police are investigating the assault and robbery of a woman as she started work at a restaurant in the Perrinville neighborhood.

The attack happened just after 6 a.m. Friday at the Corner Coffee Bar & Café, Edmonds police Sgt. Mark Marsh said.

A man wearing a ski mask punched the woman and pushed her multiple times, Marsh said. He then took an undetermined amount of money.

The victim, 34, was treated by medics at the scene.

Detectives now are checking with local businesses to see if any surveillance cameras captured the man or his vehicle, Marsh said. A police dog searched the area but the track ended in the parking lot.

The suspect is believed to be white, about 30 years old and 6 feet tall. He wore the ski mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans and dark shoes.

"All she could basically see is his eyes and hear his voice," Marsh said.

The suspect might have implied that he had a weapon but none was seen, according to police.

The neighborhood straddling Edmonds and Lynnwood is mostly residential, and robbery reports are rare there, Marsh said.

Anyone with information should call 425-771-0212.
