The (non)update on Percy Harvin's hip
"We don't know any more information yet, but we continue to progress with this simple thought--that we are going to do whatever we need to do to help Percy be right, whatever that is," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "So we'll support the doctor's findings and all that stuff. They're working it out now, we should know more in the next day. But at this point we are just going to help him get right and whatever time frame that is we will figure that out when we have all that information then."
Carroll did, however, say previous reports that team doctors said Harvin doesn't need surgery are inaccurate, because nothing has been determined.
"We're still gathering information," he said. "That's not right because we haven't made a conclusion, a conclusive statement about that yet. We are trying to wait it out and make sure we take all the time that's available and all of the information, so whatever those reports were they weren't correct."
And ultimately, Carroll said, the final call on surgery or no surgery will fall to Harvin.
"Eventually he has to say 'yeah, I'm getting surgery or not,'" Carroll said. "He has to OK that. But that's all going to be with the information from the doctors, they're all working it out now and trying to get all the information. There 's a lot of background work that we are doing here too, but it will be doctor's recommendation and of course the patient always gets the final shot."
Other personnel notes:
DE Cliff Avril missed a second straight day of practice with what Carroll called "a little hamstring thing that we're making sure is OK. Fellow DE Michael Bennett was away with a pretty darn good excuse.
New baby I m a happy father todayWith both those players gone, that meant some first-team action from a pair of unlikely rookies--seventh-round pick Ty Powell and undrafted rookie Benson Mayowa, who wasn't signed until after he made an impression as a tryout player during Seattle's rookie minicamp.

Rookie DT Jesse Williams was back in action after missing the previous two days.
