Gordon Ramsay to return to scene of Everett 'nightmare' July 30, 2013
Buffett auctions off personal tour of See's Candy July 29, 2013
Off the Wire: Beer by beer, Houston home morphs into landmark July 29, 2013
The house that Budweiser built: A home that's sided with tens of thousands of flattened beer cans has been deemed a landmark, and a nonprofit art center is devoted to its stewardship (Page A2).
The art center estimates the home's creator drank a six-pack of cheap canned beer daily for 20 years in order to collect enough material to cover the walls. Move over, van Gogh: This is suffering for one's art.
Candyland: Billionaire Warren Buffet is auctioning off an all-you-eat tour of a See's Candy factory to benefit an education nonprofit (Business Briefly, Page A7).
Buffett says he'll teach the auction winner the proper way to eat a bonbon. We assume that Step No. 1 is remove the bonbon from the silver platter placed before you by the butler.
C'mere, you: Famously profane celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is scheduled to return to Everett on Wednesday to revisit Prohibition Gastropub, the Hewitt Avenue eatery he remade in December 2012 for his "Kitchen Nightmares" TV show (above).
The restaurant will be closed to the public during Ramsay's visit, which means no tips for servers. But we hear they will get to keep the proceeds from a very special Chef Ramsay swear jar.
