A flapjack fundraiser is planned from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Applebee's, 4626 W. 196th St. SW, in Lynnwood to raise money for Serene Dana, a 1-year-old Shoreline girl who underwent a liver transplant earlier this year. Ticket prices are $10 per person and can be purchased in advance or at the door by contacting Kara Hillius at cotaforserened@gmail.com.
Serene was born on July 12, 2012, and soon after was diagnosed with biliary atresia. Serene was able to undergo a liver transplant surgery in April at Seattle Children's Hospital.
The fundraiser through Children's Organ Transplant Association will help the family pay for about $100,000 in medical costs.

From the Dakotas? The North and South Dakota picnic will celebrate its 25th anniversary Aug. 10 in Church Creek Park in Stanwood. Address is 27211 72nd Ave NW, just a block north of McDonalds restaurant.
Potluck is at noon, bring your own table ware and beverages (no alcohol), folding chair and other necessities.
Anyone with Dakota connections is welcome.
