SEATTLE -- The Seattle City Council voted down a proposal Monday to increase the number of homeless camps in the city.
The measure proposed by Councilman Nick Licata would have helped relocate more than 100 people from a camp known as Nickelsville, which is facing a Sept. 1 deadline to clear out.
KIRO-FM reports a majority of council members said homeless camps are not an acceptable solution to the homeless problem in the city.
The council has approved spending $500,000 to relocate the Nicklelsville campers.
