Rossi reportedly pressed to lead state GOP
A tip of the hat to Herald Opinion Editor Peter Jackson who tweeted this afternoon that "A source tells The Herald that Dino Rossi (who works in Everett) is getting pressure to take the reins of the state Republican Party."
(By the way, Jackson opined earlier today that former Attorney General Rob McKenna would be a good choice for the job that Kirby Wilbur vacated Monday.)
Rossi, who buys and sells commercial real estate for an Everett-based company, is one of the best known Republicans in Washington. In spite of losing contests for governor in 2004 and 2008 and the U.S. Senate in 2010, he's not shied away from the political scene.
In 2012, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney tapped Rossi to head up his campaign in Washington and Rossi raised a pile of cash for him.
While Rossi isn't publicly seeking the post as of yet, Susan Hutchison of King County told the Seattle Times she's interested.
State party leaders will make the decision in the next three months.
