EVERETT — An Everett man was arrested Sunday for investigation of assault after allegedly choking his girlfriend, hitting her with a table leg and zapping her with an electronic stun gun.
A witness called 911 and reported an assault at an apartment in the 3100 block of Colby Avenue early Sunday afternoon.
She told police that she and her boyfriend were woken by the sound of an argument inside the apartment unit.
She said she saw the suspect’s girlfriend run toward the front door. That’s where the suspect, 33, allegedly grabbed her by the neck and threw her down before choking and shaking her.
He then reportedly picked up a wooden table leg and hit her in the legs and ribs multiple times, police wrote in a report.
The witness then went into another room but heard the man threaten to use an electronic stun gun on the woman. Moments later, the witness heard a cracking sound and the woman scream.
That’s when the witness ran outside and called 911. She told police that she feared for her own safety, according to court papers.
The victim confirmed to police that there had been a fight inside the apartment. However, she refused to go to the hospital or show potential injuries that were covered by her clothing.
Police saw redness and scratches as well as a large scratch around the woman’s neck.
The suspect’s bail was set at $25,000 Monday. He also has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
