Tuesday's football/futball links

That's right, we're doing a two-for-one link dump today. Normally this time of year I'm spending the bulk of my time covering the Seahawks, but the Sounders' signing of Clint Dempsey was big enough news to pull me away from the VMAC Monday. That being said, I know most of you come here for Seahawks news and notes, so I'll throw in some Seahawks stuff anyway.

Here's my column on the Dempsey signing, a bold move for both player and club.

One thing that didn't really fit into the column was some interesting info from GM Adrian Hanauer on how the deal got done. That was all outlined very well, however, in this story by Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl.

And speaking of Dempsey, his former team Tottenham is involved in this hilarious video from NBC Sports, which the network put together to help promote the upcoming Premier League season.

Now onto some football. In today's Herald, we have this story from Eric Williams of the Tacoma News Tribune looking at the continued strong play from cornerback Walter Thurmond. On Sunday, Carroll noted that Thurmond is in a real competition for the nickel spot with Antoine Winfield.

Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated/TheMMQB.com has an interesting story from his visit to Seahawks camp looking at the high level of accountability on the team.

Speaking of SI, Doug Farrar put together an all-underrated team, and includes Golden Tate on the offense.

ESPN's Mike Sando looks at Seattle's crowded secondary, and what options the Seahawks might have getting their roster down to 53.
