The felon with a lengthy criminal history could face another trip to prison after allegedly robbing a man of his shoes Tuesday night before discarding them.
The suspect, whose nickname is Lumpy, was arrested for investigation of robbery. He's accused of threatening the man with a knife and then assaulting him with a rock at a motel parking lot in the 22200 block of Highway 99 in Edmonds.
"It comes down to a drug transaction gone south," Edmonds police Sgt. Mark Marsh said.
The victim, a Freeland man, 36, said the suspect, 30, offered to sell him drugs and ushered him to go to a concealed area of the motel parking lot. That's when the suspect allegedly said, "Give me your shoes or I'll stab you with my knife."
The Freeland man feared he would be stabbed either way and tried to grab the man making the threat. The suspect then allegedly hit him in the head with a rock, causing a 3-inch cut on the man's head. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect reportedly removed his shoes.
Police caught up with him in a black Nissan a short time later.
The suspect was on community custody. He's a registered sex offender with other convictions for drug possession and burglary.
He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
