King Co. bus cameras failed to record shooting
One bus driver was shot and wounded last Monday morning by Martin Duckworth, 31m who was then killed by police as he boarded a second bus.
The Seattle Times reports that the onboard surveillance systems failed to record either shooting.
About 40 percent of buses in Metro's fleet have the cameras, and all the cameras will be inspected in the next several days, after County Executive Dow Constantine ordered Metro to check them out.
The cameras have not been regularly inspected, but Metro says they will now be examined every 6,000 miles, at the same time brakes, engines and other parts undergo routine maintenance.
Metro began using in-bus cameras in 2008.
