50 years ago (1963)
Jacklynn Berube, Miss Everett, had become a beauty consultant for the Luzier Company. After a two-week training period that she wove around such activities as the Seafair, she now was active in her new work. She also was looking forward to attending Everett Junior College this fall.
John Charles Loomer, son of Albert Loomer of 8631 Del Campo Dr., and Cary Joe Bauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bauer, 1827 McDougall, enlisted in the Navy at the Everett Navy Recruiting Station last month.
25 years ago (1988)
The public was invited to Washington Oakes Model Apartment’s open house. The grand opening was just months away and here was a chance to preview an apartment in the retirement community. The nucleus of the home was the old Washington School.
Police in Snohomish and Marysville were hoping citizens would let their fingers to the walking and help them stamp out crime. Within the past week, both police departments installed telephone lines that were answered only by a tape machine, allowing people to pass along confidential tips about suspected drug traffickers or other criminals.
