The Frogs sent nine batters to the plate in the fifth and scored four runs in an inning that included a wild pitch, a pick-off at first base and a home run to the deepest part of Everett Memorial Stadium. Everett (35-29) added three more runs in the seventh and went on to defeat the Eugene Emeralds 7-2 in a Northwest League game.
Everett's fifth-inning surge began with center fielder Michael Faulkner hitting his fourth double of the season. Faulkner advanced to third base on a wild pitch and scored after James Zamarripa walked and Justin Seager doubled, getting the Frogs on the board with a 1-0 lead. Zamarripa was picked off at first before Seager's double. Following Seager's hit, Emeralds starter Vladimir De La Cruz was relieved by Tayron Guerrero.
Guerrero fared no better in the inning than De La Cruz. Seager scored on a passed ball and after catcher Carlton Tanabe reached base on a walk, right fielder Austin Wilson connected on his fourth home run of the season. He hit a 3-2 pitch over the center-field wall to make it 4-0.
Wilson reached base on all four of his plate appearances, batting 3-for-3 and finishing a triple shy of the cycle.
Everett tacked on three unearned runs in the seventh inning with the help of two consecutive errors by Eugene third baseman Fernando Perez.
