As of Monday, the company's 71,000 acres of timberland, typically open for public recreation, will be closed until significant rainfall lifts the danger of fire, a news release said.
The closure includes the company's timberlands near the town of Port Gamble, an area that is popular with hikers, mountain bikers and hunters.
The closure follows a Aug. 17 fire on the company's property near the town of Brinnon. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished by fire crews. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
