There is plenty going on in the local music community lately and it is about time to catch up on some of the highlights.
RA Scion teams up with Daniel Blue
Seattle rapper RA Scion is about to release a new record and has enlisted the help of Motopony front man Daniel Blue for the new single. Being that this collaboration is between two of the best lyricists/performers in Seattle right now this is certain to be a genre-bending masterpiece. The pair recently spent a day on Orcas Island with video wizard Casey Sjogren and shot this epic teaser for the new song. The single and full length video will be coming soon.
New Pickwick video
Pickwick recently released a music video for one of their song ‘Hacienda Motel.” This is not a new song from Pickwick but it is one of their most popular and deserved a video.
New 20 Riverside video
Speaking of videos and islands, Everett band 20 Riverside was recently out on Jetty Island shooting a new music video for their song ‘Throwin It Down By The Sea’ off of their debut full length album from a couple years ago. When the video is released, I will be sure to catch up with the guys to talk about it and post all of that on the blog. 20 Riverside will be playing the last show of the summer at the marina for the city’s music in the parks concert series.
Slack Fest this weekend
If you don’t have plans for this weekend, think about heading north to Stanwood for Slack Fest on Saturday. The festival is headlined by Everett’s The Moondoggies and features several fantastic local bands like The Comettes, Country Lips, Dude York and more. Tickets are only $30 with an additional $15 to camp and they can be purchased here.
The Moondoggies release Adios I’m A Ghost
Speaking of The Moondoggies, their new record Adios I’m A Ghost came out last Tuesday. This is just my opinion, but I think the whole record is fantastic and if you think otherwise then you’re wrong. That’s actually how strongly I feel about it. Just check out this track from Adios I’m A Ghost below and see for yourself. Then go buy the album.
