Associated Press
LEAVENWORTH -- Fire crews are keeping a close eye on the weather, with much of Eastern Washington under a red-flag warning for extreme wildfire danger.
The National Weather Service said a low-pressure system off the coast of California is pushing northeast. That raises the potential for thunderstorms in the region through today.
Near Leavenworth, the Eagle Fire has burned across nearly 2 square miles.
Fire spokeswoman Robin DeMario said Thursday that about 30 homes remain under mandatory evacuation notices.
The fire is 10 percent contained. Six-hundred firefighters are assigned to the fire.
About 70 firefighters are working the Manastash Ridge Fire near Ellensburg, which has burned across more than 1 square mile.
No structures are threatened.
In Idaho, more than 450 square miles are on fire, and some fire managers are nervous that predicted thunderstorms could cause that number to grow.
The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for much of Idaho, with thunderstorms and lightning expected Thursday night.
