ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A small plane crashed at Merrill Field in Anchorage on Saturday afternoon, killing two people on board.
Police say the Cessna 150 crashed just after it took off around 3:30 p.m.
Witnesses told the Anchorage Daily News that they saw the plane take off and heard sputtering before it hit the ground on the western edge of the airport.
Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said officers responding to the crash pulled a man and a woman from the plane. They were taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Police haven’t identified the victims.
