PASCO — The Everett AquaSox swept a Northwest League baseball doubleheader Monday night, defeating the Tri-City Dust Devils 4-0 in the first game and 7-1 in 12 innings in the nightcap.
In sweeping the three-game series Everett held the Dust Devils to just two runs over 28 innings.
Everett’s Justin Seager had three hits in Monday’s nightcap, and his bases-loaded walk in the 12th inning* broke a 1-1 tie. Everett went on to add five more runs in the frame.
Richard White (3-2) earned the win for Everett after throwing 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. He retired all four hitters he faced.
In the opener, Carlton Tanabe hit a bases-loaded triple in the first inning to give Everett a 3-0 lead. The AquaSox increased their advantage to 4-0 in the sixth when Kyle Petty’s RBI double drove in Austin Wilson, who had singled.
Wilson, recently named the NWL player of the Week for Aug. 19-25, extended his hitting streak to eight games before going 0-for-4 in the second game.
Starting pitcher Nate Koneski (2-1) earned the win in the opener, allowing just two hits in five shutout innings.
Everett has Tuesday off. The Sox open a three-game series in Spokane on Wednesday.
2014 schedule
The AquaSox released their 2014 schedule on Monday.
Everett opens the season — its 30th in the Northwest League — on June 13 at home against the Hillsboro Hops.
The busiest month at Everett Memorial Stadium will be July, with 19 home games on the schedule. The AquaSox close out the 2014 regular season Sept. 1 at Tri-City.
The NWL All-Star Game is scheduled for Aug. 5 at PK Park, home of the Eugene Emeralds.
