POCATELLO, Idaho — Authorities blocked part of U.S. Highway 26 after a World War II-era hand grenade was found in a storage locker at Beeches Corner.
The Idaho State Journal reports a property owner was cleaning out a garage that had been rented when the explosive device was found in the locker. The property owner reportedly put the grenade in a five-gallon bucket and carried it to a nearby parking lot.
A bomb technician surrounded the bucket with sandbags while Idaho State Police troopers blocked the eastbound lane of Highway 26.
Bonneville County Sheriff’s officials assisted by a team from the Mountain Home Air Force Base disposed of the grenade.
