Police save woman from reported suicide attempt
Multiple people saw the woman walk into the water and start swimming away about 9 a.m., Edmonds police Sgt. Mark Marsh said. It happened near Brackett's Landing downtown.
Police and firefighters used boats to reach the woman, who "ignored pleas to come in from the water and purposely went under water several times," Marsh said.
An Edmonds officer went into the water and pulled the woman to safety. She was looked over by medics and then taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment of hypothermia.
The woman, 49, of Edmonds, has a history of mental health problems, according to police.
