Hot dog eating, car shows and more weekend fun

Lighthouse Festival: Take the family down to the waterfront for the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival beginning today. The three-day event features a hot dog eating contest, parade, salmon bake, fishing derby, inflatables for kids and more. Find out more here.

Birds: See and learn about all things avian at Puget Sound Bird Fest. It’s three days of outings, lectures and hands-on experiences beginning at tonight at the Frances Anderson Center in Edmonds. More information here.

Cars: You have two options to see more than 300 classic cars this weekend.

  • There will be cars, a Scuttlebutt beer garden, live music and more at the free Wheels on the Waterfront Classic Car Show on Saturday. More.
  • See classic cars on Sunday at the Edmonds Classic Car Show. There will be games, giveaways and crafts from Radio Disney Seattle. More.

Fish: Check out koi and water gardens at the 22nd annual Koi Show in Bothell beginning tomorrow. Fish viewing is from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. There will be auctions, raffles and sales too. More information here.

Weddings: A wedding expo for gay and lesbian couples is Sunday at Embassy Suites in Lynnwood. The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and is free for couples. Find out more here.

Fair: Didn’t get enough of the fair? The Washington State Fair begins today in Puyallup with more animals, contest and carnival fun. Admission is $9 to $12.50. More information here.

Planes: The Flying Heritage Collection will re-enact the Battle of Britain on Saturday. More information here.
