A newly formed band of well-known musicians will perform Saturday at the Monroe MusicFest.
Guitarist and Monroe native Keith Brock put together the festival and formed the band as a tribute to the city he grew up in.
“It all stems from my coming from Monroe and how the community and school helped me to obtain my dream of having a music career,” Brock said.
“I wanted to kind of bring it back full circle as a thank you to Monroe, trying to breathe back into the community what it gave me.”
That “thank you” create the L.A. Allstars , an ensemble of musicians including Carl Verheyen, guitarist for Supertramp; Dave Marotta, bassist for Kenny Loggins and Colbie Caillat; and Walfredo Reyes Jr., drummer for Carlos Santana and Chicago.
The group’s lead vocalist, Terry Hartness, is from Lynnwood.
“It’s exciting for me, the chance to see my favorite musicians giving all that they have together,” Hartness said.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event, getting together these musicians that a lot of people grew up listening to.”
Jennifer Diamond will sing backup.
The performance will feature John Popper of Blues Traveler as a guest performer.
The outdoor concert starts at 6 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.
Tickets are $20 general; free for children 12 and younger. Parking is free.
Seating is on the lawn. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.
The festival will feature a beer, wine and food garden.
It will take place at Lake Tye Park, 14964 Fryelands Blvd., Monroe.
