Published:
VANCOUVER -- Republican Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, who has spent the past several weeks by her newborn daughter's hospital bedside, has announced that she will return to Washington, D.C., next week to vote on whether the U.S. should use military force in Syria.
The Columbian reports Herrera Beutler's office made the announcement Thursday. It did not elaborate on which way the congresswoman from Camas will vote. Her spokesman says she's skeptical of a U.S. military strike. But is willing to hear opposing arguments.
Much of Herrera Beutler's congressional duties were put on hold in July, when she gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Abigail. The baby was born about three months early and without functioning kidneys.
