Writer Jennifer Blomgren and illustrator Andrea Gabriel have created the children’s book “Why Do I Sing? Animal Songs of the Pacific Northwest” ($17, Sasquatch).
It’s less about describing the sounds than when, where and why those sounds might be made.
The painterly illustrations and rhyming prose make it a visual delight for children also.
The creators of this book, both state residents, also collaborated on “Where Do I Sleep?” in the same rich format.
