Fast times at M-P High for Snohomish

MARYSVILLE – The Snohomish Panthers boys swim team swam eight Class 4A state-qualifying times Friday and handed Marysville-Pilchuck its first Wesco North loss of the season, 132-54 on Friday.

“We got steam-rolled tonight,” said Marysville-Pilchuck head coach Scott Knowles.

For Snohomish, the team of Eric Pedack, Jon MacMillen, Kyle Endres, and Michael Turner finished as state qualifiers with a time of 1 minute, 42.29 seconds in the 200 medley relay.

Turner also qualified with a second-place, 49.62 finish in the 100 freestyle race. Teammate Chris Fulton took first place in that race with a state-qualifying time of 47.97.

Dan Ferguson earned state-qualifying times in two races, with a time of 2:03.82 in the 200 individual medley and a 53.61 in the 100 butterfly.

Two other Snohomish swimmers qualified along with Ferguson in the 100 butterfly. Kyle Endres finished with a time of 54.35 and Colin Hanley took third at 55.54.

Eric Pedack became a state qualifier in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 56.19.

The Tomahawks’ lone win of the meet came from diver Chance Keyes, who scored 185.95 points.

Shorewood 94, Shorecrest 91: At Shoreline, the meet came down to the final race and Shorecrest fell one second shy of the victory in the Wesco South meet. Tyler Hayden for the Scots had two individual state-qualifying times and swam on the 200-yard freestyle relay state-qualifying team. Teammate Jerry Wang had two individual wins and swam on two winning relays. Maxwell Vincent won one individual race and swam on the winning 200 medley relay team for the Thunderbirds.

Lake Stevens 100, Everett 76: At Lake Stevens, Lake Stevens swam a state-qualifying time in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1 minute, 45.34 seconds to help the Vikings defeat Everett in the Wesco North meet. The Seagulls had a state qualifying time in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of :57.92.

Edmonds-Woodway 104, Mariner 78: At Mukilteo, Edmonds-Woodway won the Wesco South meet, as Bryant Shiu and Sean Maden had a hand in three event victories apiece between their individual and team events for Edmonds-Woodway.

Kamiak 109, Meadowdale 61: At Lynnwood, Sam Atkinson and David Clobes each won two races for the Royals, but it was Kamiak that went home victorious from the Wesco South meet. Clobes’ time of 2 minutes, 13.32 seconds in the 200 individual medley was a state-qualifing time.
