EVERETT — Howarth Park and Pigeon Creek beaches reopened today for the first time since sewer spills caused by heavy rains on Aug. 29, Everett city officials said.
Environmental sampling shows water quality levels at normal background levels, according to a city press release.
Public Works crews had been preparing to open the beaches on Friday when another bout of heavy rain postponed the plans.
As of Monday, 36 homeowners had filed basement flooding claims related to the two recent storms; 13 of those residences were flooded during both events.
Public Works staff plan to visit those sites and investigate the cause of flooding at those locations this week.
