BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — The International Olympic Committee wants Lance Armstrong to return his Olympic medal.
IOC vice president Thomas Bach said Armstrong and the U.S. Olympic Committee have been asked to give back the cycling bronze medal the American won at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned for life from elite sports. The IOC also stripped him of his bronze medal.
Bach says there is no legal dispute.
Bach says “what we are lacking — sadly but I hope we can still come to the result — is just getting back the medal. But legally the case for the IOC is closed.”
