Mystery writers J.A. Jance and Seattle Police Capt. Neil Low will make separate appearances with their newest releases at the Everett Public Library.

Jance will talk about “Second Watch” at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the main library auditorium.

In “Second Watch,” Jance once again has Seattle homicide investigator J.P. Beaumont hot on a cold case, the 1973 murder of a young girl.

During his investigation, Beaumont is haunted by his days in Vietnam. Jance based this part of the story on a person she knew and has dedicated the book to all who served in Vietnam.

Books will be for sale at the signing. “Second Watch” lists at $26.99.

Jance will also be at the University Book Store at Mill Creek Town Center, 15311 Main St., at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

You can order autographed copies of “Second Watch,” which will be available after the talk. Go to www2.bookstore.washington.edu or call 425-385-3530 for more information.

Local author Neil Low, who lives in Snohomish, writes books featuring a hard-nosed gumshoe working the streets of Seattle in the 1940s.

Low will talk about his five novels featuring P.I. Alan Stewart and his secretary/partner, Vera, at 2 p.m. Sunday at the main library.

Low’s latest book is “Deadly Attraction.”

Books, which list for $15.95, will be for sale at the signing.

When he’s not writing on his days off as SPD’s night commander, Low conducts walking tours of some of Seattle’s infamous crime scenes.

The Everett Public Library is at 2702 Hoyt Ave. Call 425-257-8000 for more information about these free events.
